LG Spectrum to receive Android 2.3.6 with build VS920ZV5

Verizon seems set to introduce a new software upgrade for the LG Spectrum. Build VS920ZV5 will step the device up to Android 2.3.6 and there are a lot of changes in this package. A whole host of apps will be updated, including NFL Mobile 4.0, My Verizon, Google Play, Gmail, and the Amazon Kindle app.

Fixes for improved calendar alert timing, force close issues when looking for WiFi networks and more are all being implemented. You can find the full changelog at Verizon’s site. No word on when to expect this update, but we reckon the wait will be quite short.

Verizon LG Spectrum Build VS920ZV5 Ready To Go, According To Verizon Support Docs (No, It's Not ICS)

Big Red isn't skimping on the updates over the past couple of days (though none of them are ICS) - yesterday we saw changelogs for upcoming Droid RAZR/MAXX and Droid 4 OTAs, and today, details for an upcoming OTA to the LG Spectrum hit Verizon's site.

While this update appears to be nothing more than a incremental Gingerbread update (which brings the device up to Android version 2.3.6) it does bring quite a few fixes and enhancements to the device:

As always, there's no word as to when the update will start rolling out, but most OTAs start within a few days of the documents hitting Verizon's support site.
